Gown and Glove Donning

Aseptic technique is essential.

These basic attributes are the first thing you do before stepping through the door of a theatre so its important to get right!

Suturing

Hand Ties

Before you can think about opening someone up, you better know how to close them back up again…

Hand ties are a great, easy to practice way to start with this!

Simple Interrupted Suture

This is the most basic, bread and butter skill every clinician should have, especially if you are a budding surgeon!

Simple Running Suture

This type of suture can be used for a long wound that has been stabilised with deeper sutures – it results in less scarring however it is easy to come out however so this stability from deeper sutures is important!

Horizontal Mattress Suture

This type of suture is excellent for deeper sutures. It reduces wound tension and in cases of delayed healing it gives excellent support.
